- New license key format: a key can grant a subset of the library
- MOD follows the sign of the divisor, as in Excel and Google Sheets
- VAR, STDEV, SLOPE and STEYX keep precision on narrow-spread data
The open-source spreadsheet engine behind Handsontable DataGrid’s formulas. It parses Excel-compatible formulas, resolves dependencies, and recomputes — headless, in Node, in a worker, or in your ETL pipeline.

Financial models, pricing rules, forecasts, and operational logic often live in spreadsheet formulas. But Excel wasn't designed to run inside modern applications.
HyperFormula bridges this gap with a deterministic spreadsheet engine. Built as a TypeScript library, it executes Excel-compatible formulas with exact and repeatable results, making spreadsheet calculations a native part of your system.
Run calculations. Recompute results. Power spreadsheet logic directly in your software.

The power of formulas extends beyond spreadsheets. Applications like CRMs, ERP systems, and reporting tools rely on flexible, user-defined computations, often as calculated fields. HyperFormula brings formula-based logic directly into your product. Let users define calculated fields, dynamic rules, and custom logic using familiar Excel-inspired syntax.

HyperFormula separates calculation logic from presentation, giving you full control over how spreadsheet functionality is integrated into your application.
Use it inside custom interfaces, any frontend framework or backend systems while HyperFormula handles formula parsing, evaluation, and recalculation.
Build your own experience, integrate with existing tools, or plug it into your backend without being tied to any framework or UI layer.

In public release since June 2020, and running inside every Handsontable DataGrid instance that uses the Formulas plugin.

Formulas use the syntax of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Every figure here is counted at build time, from the engine this page ships with and from Microsoft’s own list of Excel functions.

Cube and web functions are out of scope. HyperFormula’s own functions and those from Google Sheets, such as ARRAYFORMULA and SPLIT, count toward the total but not toward Excel’s list.
Let’s make it easier.
